Optimize your diet for fertility

Your diet is important not only for your overall health, but also for your fertility health. Dr Marilyn Glenville, a nutritionist specializing in women’s health, believes that fertility treatments could even be helped by implementing dietary changes.

Though it may seem obvious that a healthy diet can promote fertility, many people fail to realize that a poor diet can actually impair fertility.

Two substances you should avoid include alcohol and caffeine, which have been consistently linked to lower fertility.

On the other hand, foods that promote fertility are those rich in zinc, folic acid, selenium, vitamin E, vitamin C, and Omega 3 fatty acids.  If you don’t get enough of these nutrients in your diet, consider taking a nutritional supplement.

Furthermore, the amino acids arginine and carnitine have been suggested to boost male fertility.
