Acupuncture boosts positive fertility markers

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine practice that involves inserting very thin needles into the skin at specific points in order to promote health.

Though it’s been linked to increased IVF success rates, the mechanism of this action was unknown.

Now researchers out of The Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of TCM have found a potential effect of acupuncture on a biochemical marker of fertility.

Acupuncture was found to increase blood levels of human leukocyte antigen HLA-G, which is indicative of higher pregnancy and live birth rates.
