More single women having babies

The number of single women having babies is increasing in Australia.  Fertility experts report observing a massive increase in single women seeking fertility treatment over the past 3 years.

Another trend is an increase in older women having babies.  The Australian Bureau of Statistics report the fertility rate for women 35 to 39 was higher than women aged 20 to 24.

Some fertility experts believe that the trend is the result of social infertility more than medial infertility.  For example, women may be unable to find suitable mates before they hit menopause.
